• WELCOME TO OUR BRAND-NEW WEBSITE: The Bradley Beach Library is proud to debut our brand-new website. Take a look around at our great resources and visit our Face Book page, too! Please let us know what you think of our new website.
• CHECK OUT THE NEW LIBRARY CARDS: The Library has three new library cards. Jake Clark and Alana Gerdes, both 4th graders at Bradley Beach Elementary School, won the contest to design the cards this fall. Jake's sandcastle with READ on it and Alana's drawing of a book taking out books are very popular with both kids and adults. The third card features a photo of the front of the Library. Come by and get your new card today!
• AUTHOR DAVID GOLDMAN SPEAKS FOR FRIENDS: More than 50 people attended the Friends of the Library program at the Bradley Beach Elementary School last month. David Goldman gave a moving account of his efforts to bring home his abducted son, Sean. He also described The Bring Sean Home Foundation, which is dedicated to helping other abducted children and their families. The Friends sold copies of his book, A Father's Love, which Goldman graciously signed.
The Library has copies of the book (including large print) and the audiobook. The next meeting of the Library book club on March 12th will discuss Goldman's book. Please join us!
• LIBRARY PARTICIPATING IN TOWN-WIDE DAY OF ART: On February 11th Bradley Beach will be alive with young artists who will have a chance to draw, take photos and write as part of Arts at the Beach's 2012 Workshops and Art Contests. The Library is co-facilitating the poster contest which hopes to put children's art work in the windows of Bradley Beach's businesses. An awards ceremony will be helD on March 16th. Registration forms are available at the Library, BBES and Borough Hall.
• HAPPY NEW YEAR FROM YOUR LIBRARY: All Bradley Beach taxpayers received a New Year's card from their library, along with a bookmark. "We were so proud that the card featured our magnificent front doors, all dressed up for the season, and that the bookmark highlighted the Library sign," says Director Janet Torsney. "We're grateful to the taxpayers that support us and proud to be the 'great little library' of our town."
